EL NINO IS COMING! EL NINO IS COMING! OR SO THE WEATHER EXPERTS SAY.
We’re local industrial real estate experts, not weather experts, so we’re going to leave the El Nino predictions to folks that know more than us. With that being said, it appears we’re headed for a stronger El Nino season than the 1997-1998 El Nino, which brought over 47” inches of rain to Los Angeles region. To put that in perspective, Los Angeles received just over 6’ inches of rain in the ’14-’15 seasons.
Yeah, great, but what’s that mean for you? Well, water is the “universal solvent” as well as a destructive erosional force, for buildings that are not prepared! Below are a couple overlooked Tips to keep your building water tight and protected should El Nino turn out to be more than a Y2K scare.
• Have the roof inspected for areas of pooling on ponding before the rains.
• Service the roof drains and downspouts.
• Trim overhanging trees that may cause leaves and branches to fall.
